The first thing she does in the morning is put on the tea kettle to heat the water for her coffee, which she makes in a french press coffee maker. In the afternoon, before the kids once again invade the house, she likes to relax with a nice cup of hot tea – outside on the patio iif the weather permits it.
So when her 10 year old tea kettle spring a leak recently, we found ourselves in the market for a new tea kettle. A little bit of online searching revealed the Oxo tea kettle brand, and a bit more searching after that and she’d picked a new Oxo stainless steel tea kettle to replace her old, now leaking, stainless steel kettle.
The most interesting difference between her old kettle and the new is the way they work to pour. Her old tea kettle had a little trigger on it that you had to depress to open the lid and let the water out. Her new Oxo tea kettle pours all on its own simply by tilting the kettle into the pouring position. The spout cap is integrated with the handle itself. The more you tilt it, the more the spout opens up and allows the hot water to flow.
She really likes this, since for her the old trigger was a bit hard for her to reach. She likes the way it looks to. It’s made of brushed stainless steel, so goes with everything. And the opening is large enough for her to fit her hand into for cleanig it. Nice!
She likes the tone of this kettle too. The old one had a pretty high pitched whistle – kind of grating on the ears if you ask me. The new Oxo tea kettle makes a lower tone, almost like a far away train whistle. Very cool.
So overall she’s pretty happy with the purchase. If you’re looking for a new tea kettle, you owe it to yourself to check out Oxo. You can get them on Amazon.com and other stores and retailer, both bricks and mortar and online.
